St. Paddy’s Day is all about green ale, Guinness, parades, and having a good time. But have you ever wondered where these traditions come from? Well, sit back and let’s chat about the history behind St. Patrick’s Day and Guinness.
Â
So, St. Patrick, the man behind the holiday, was actually born in Great Britain. But here’s the twist – he got kidnapped at 16 and taken to Ireland. After his great escape, he returned to Ireland as a missionary, spreading Christianity like wildfire and he is also widely renowned for banishing snakes from Ireland. Fast forward a bit, and bam, we’ve got St. Patrick’s Day on March 17th, celebrating the legend himself.
Â
Now, onto the fun part – the drinking! Why do we party hard on St. Paddy’s....Back in the day, Ireland had strict rules about booze and meat during Lent. But guess what? They gave folks a break on St. Patrick’s Day, making it a day to let loose and enjoy one or two drinks!
Â
The Guinness Story....Ah, Guinness – the King of St. Patrick’s Day brews. Founded by Arthur Guinness in Dublin, this ale started off with a bang thanks to its porter, a rich and hearty ale. Before you knew it, Guinness became synonymous with Irish culture, loved for its unique taste and smooth texture.
Â
And let’s not forget about the widget device – that nifty little thing in Guinness cans that keeps it tasting so fresh. It’s like having a bit of the pub experience right at home.
Â
As St. Paddy’s Day draws near, we’re here to make sure you’ve got all the essentials for a proper celebration. From classic Guinness to other tasty Irish tipples, our hampers are packed with everything you need to get the party started.
